Young Lucy: My mom thinks I’m at your house.
Young Mimi: My dad thinks I’m at yours.
Mimi: Well, Kit and I voted and you lost.
Mimi: If I win this competition, I get a record deal!
Kit: Mimi, you’re pregnant. What, are you just gonna be some big fat pregnant superstar?
[in the hotel bathroom]
Lucy Wagner: We are at a hotel with a murderer!
Mimi: He’s not a murderer okay? It’s just a rumor!
[they all peek out the door where Ben is playing his guitar]
Ben: Hey, Whats up?
[the girls wave and go back inside the door]
Mimi: They said I lost the baby. Lost it. Like it was my keys or something.
Lucy Wagner: She said that I was a mistake, and that he made her have me, and that she never wanted me.
|
[Lucy starts undressing, then stops]
Henry: What’s wrong? Why are you stopping?
Lucy Wagner: Henry, this isn’t how I planned it would be.
Henry: That’s funny, because this is exactly how I planned it to be!
Lucy Wagner: All we have is now, and right now we have each other.
[last lines]
Lucy Wagner: This time, we didn’t make any wishes for the future. We said goodbye to our past. Now, none of us has any idea where life’s gonna take us, ’cause what we have is now. And right now, we have each other.
Young Mimi: Hand me the flashlight.
Young Lucy: Here it is.
Young Mimi: Kit, I’ve got the shovel.
Young Kit: You do?
Young Mimi: Lucy, get the box.
Lucy Wagner: Is this it?
Ben: No, but what if it was and I just really sucked at cheering people up?

When Lucy’s Dad is talking to Lucy in the hospital, a picture of Britney Spears can be seen on a copy of USA Today that a man is reading in the waiting room.
No Coca-Cola products are ever used. Instead, Pepsi products are featured prominently, e.g. Mimi drinks from a Pepsi can in the hotel room after their karaoke win. Britney Spears, of course, endorses Pepsi-Cola.
At one point in the movie, the girls sing “Bye Bye Bye,” which was a hit song by N’Sync. This was an inside joke referencing the well-publicized romance between N’Sync member Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears.
Ben’s car is a Buick Skylark custom convertible.
Dan Aykroyd created a detailed back-story for his character and his life in the navy. He even had a friend draw a navy tattoo on his arm (which can be seen in the scene where he is working on the car in the garage).
Anson Mount threw up after the scene in the diner.
During the celebration scene in hotel room in New Orleans, the song that is playing on the radio which the girls danced to is entitled “Crazy Love” by Boomkat, A.K.A. Taryn Manning.
The pictures in Lucy’s locket are actual pictures of Britney Spears when she was younger.
Lucy’s last name comes from casting director ‘Kim Davis-Wagner’.
Anson Mount was originally reluctant to play Ben, but was encouraged by Robert De Niro, with whom he was working at the time on City by the Sea (2002), who turned out to be a huge Spears fan. They went over scenes on break from “Sea”, with Mount reading his role and De Niro reading Britney’s.
When Lucy gets out of the shower in the first hotel room, a bottle of Herbal Essences shampoo is visible inside the shower. Britney Spears endorses Herbal Essences shampoo.
The band Bowling for Soup is playing at the party the group attends.
Bowling For Soup, the band who features in the film and have 3 songs in the film, belong to Spears’ record company, Jive Records, as do *Nsync (the band featuring Spears’ then boyfriend Justin Timberlake) who also have a song that features in the film.
The Britney Spears songs in the film all went on to become singles and were featured on her third album, “Britney”, which was released shortly before the film.
One of the most highest grossing movies in Japan, due to ‘Britney Spear’’s popularity in Japan.
The set used for the hospital scene is that from TV Series “Scrubs” (2001).

Factual errors: When Lucy calls her father from Louisiana, she dials seven numbers. You would have to dial at least 10 numbers to call Georgia from Louisiana.
Continuity: Lucy’s locket disappears and reappears during the conversation she has with Ben as he changes his shirt.
Continuity: Where the girls are in the car singing “Bye Bye Bye”, the window behind Mimi is up, then down, then back up again.
Continuity: Lucy gets up twice when Kit and Mimi get into a fight by the side of the road.
Continuity: After Lucy breaks up Kit and Mimi’s fight, Mimi goes to sit in the car. But in the next shot, Lucy looks at Mimi as if she is next to her.
Revealing mistakes: When Lucy exits the shower with a towel wrapped around her, her bra strap is showing above the towel.
Continuity: When the girls start to drive the car at the gas station the Pepsi can changes positions
Continuity: While the girls are in the bathroom, Mimi puts her toothbrush behind her ear. In the next shot, the toothbrush has disappeared.
Continuity: When Lucy is harassed by the drunk guy and Ben comes to her rescue, they all bolt out of the bar and Mimi grabs all the money they’d made, cupping it in two big handfuls. When we see Mimi running out, she only has a small bundle of money in one hand.
Continuity: In the diner, the ketchup bottle disappears from Ben’s hand for one shot, just before he puts it down.
Continuity: Lucy’s hair changes from short to long, and back to short in a short period of time.
Continuity: Towards the end of “I Love Rock N’ Roll,” Lucy alternates between being in front of the pole and in the center of the stage between shots.

|
Revealing mistakes: When Lucy is on the phone to her dad and everyone is loading up the car outside the second hotel, Mimi is putting her stuff in the trunk of the car. You see Mimi look over at someone, shrug her shoulders and say, “What?” The directors were telling her that she was in Lucy’s shot.
Continuity: In the diner scene while Lucy is figuring out if they have enough money, Ben is eating some food. Between shots, a piece of bread is in his mouth, then in his hand, then in his mouth again.
Continuity: While at the gas station, the burrito that Mimi is eating disappears and reappears between shots.
Continuity: When the girls are in the store, in each shot Kits earring switch from behind her hair to not being behind her hair.
Continuity: After the “I love rock n’ roll” song, Ben starts counting the money and the tip jar is on the table. In the next and rest of the shots the tip jar is not there.
Continuity: When Kit is revealing the worst and best thing that ever happened to her, she is eating strawberries. She take a bite of the strawberry and dips it into the whip. Then when she goes to bite the strawberry again it is a new strawberry with no whip on it.
Continuity: While Lucy is in the bathroom after finding out she was a mistake, we see as Ben walks in, she is wearing her pink sweater. But in the next shot she is wearing only her yellow tank top.
Errors in geography: Kit is driving from the oceanside motel to see her boyfriend at UCLA when Mimi asks why they are on Melrose instead of going sightseeing. But UCLA is between the ocean and Melrose. (There’s no indication they are lost.)
Revealing mistakes: After Lucy finds out she is a mistake, she and Ben walk out of the bathroom to go talk to Mimi and Kit. In that scene, Mimi’s shirt is lifted a little, revealing the white, fake pregnant stomach she was wearing.
Continuity: While Lucy is at the garage dialing her dad’s number she has fake nails. While holding the phone she doesn’t. Then when she hangs up she has them again.
